All Hot Meal Dinners Cancelled Until Further Notice

Friends & Family,

I understand the growing concern surrounding coronavirus (COVID-19) across our communities, and, of course, our prayers go out to all those who've been impacted. At this time of uncertainty, we need to reassure people as anxiety and fear can be relentless. We should all remember, we have a promise that “God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability” (1 Corinthians 10:13).

Nevertheless, like everyone, we’re following the Coronavirus developments very closely. We continue to monitor the latest advice from our provincial and federal health agencies and want you to know that we have plans in place to ensure the ministries of Lighthouse of Hope and Metro Vancouver Dream Centre continue safely.
Our number one priority is to honour God and putting priority in the health and wellbeing of everyone does just that! While the risk of contracting the illness remains low, and our trust remains in the Lord regardless, we recognize that you may have some questions about how we’re responding to this evolving situation. If you are not feeling well, or think you may have symptoms of illness, we ask you to contact us by phone/view services online instead of coming to activities in person.
Hand sanitizer to be provided throughout all gatherings and we encourage attendees to bring whatever supplies (masks gloves sanitizer whatever) you’re comfortable with.

MVDCS – Saige Food Bank

Saige will continue with increased frequency of cleanings and will provide supplemental supplies at all gatherings:

  • We will initiate a "no contact" volunteer/patron beginning immediately
  • Sanitizing and cleaning all surfaces and washrooms each gathering
  • Cleaning and disinfecting all kitchen, serving areas, tables and pick up areas

MVDCS – All Hot Meal Dinners Cancelled Until Further Notice

Close contact, preparing meals and eating together as well as recognizing many patrons are elderly and/or have other health vulnerabilities make this difficult to continue safely. Further, St. Michael's has cancelled today's hot meal as the Anglican Bishop requested of them. Out of concern for the safety of guests and volunteers, and out respect for their efforts to avoid contamination of the facilities we partner with them in, March 20th meal (next week) is cancelled.

Lighthouse of Hope Christian Fellowship

Church ministries (service and studies) will continue with increased frequency of cleanings, and we will provide supplemental supplies at gatherings. We will provide hand sanitizer throughout all gatherings and as mentioned I encourage you to bring supplies (masks gloves sanitizer whatever) for your use. In taking additional steps to keep people safe in our church building we will follow regular cleaning practices using a disinfectant formulated to kill coronavirus, among other germs. In addition, we'll follow the steps below:

  • We will initiate a "no contact" share the peace at our services
  • Sanitizing and cleaning all surfaces and washrooms every gathering
  • Cleaning and disinfecting all kitchen, serving areas, tables and sanctuary area
  • We will have ‘hand cleaning station’ set up and encourage you to use it well and use it often!

This situation continues to evolve quickly, and we will be monitoring it closely. I will continue to defer to the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, the World Health Organization and other public health agencies to determine the safest course of action for everyone who enters our church buildings at Heritage Hall, Kiwassa Neighbourhood House, or St. Michaels Fellowship Hall. I commit to being in touch with you of any changes, and am confident, based on current guidance and our own standards and practices, we remain open for ministry and are committed to providing an outstanding time together "as unto the Lord.."

Let's pray together this situation will draw us together, closer than ever, and trust it will bring us all to trust the Lord in all things!
